6th grade advice

In 6th grade I find it helpful to study for tests, keeping organized and turning everything in on time is very helpful. I will attempt to help you succeed at doing these.

Studying for tests: In 6th grade tests are longer and harder, but studying really helps. In social studies I think it helps to take notes on what the tests will be about because most social studies tests are open note tests. Then in english tests you will have to learn to memorize words and their meaning. Each english tests there is about 15-20 words you have to memorize. I personally think that going over the words and what they mean over and over.

Keeping organized: You should always keep organized because you can lose papers and not get points. Keeping organized is a big part of turning everything in on time. Knowing where everything is and where to find it at all times is really important. I do admit I haven’t been very organized this year, but then i realized how important staying organized really is.

Turning everything in on time: No matter how big the project or how fun something else is you HAVE to turn things in on time. If you turn something in late you will still get points but not all of them.  This kinda brings me back to keeping organized. Even if you finish the assignment you have to know how to get it to your teacher. There is always a way to turn it in, so no excuses work.

All three of these things will probably help you get through 6th grade, but I’m not making any promises.

The book I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck

Diary of a  Wimpy Kid Hard Luck is about Greg trying to pass 8th grade with a “Magic 8-Ball”. The “Magic 8-Ball” is a plastic toy thats supposedly answers yes or no questions. Like for instance Greg asks the 8-ball if his friend Rowley should break up with his girlfriend and the 8-ball says “ It is certain”.
So Greg is really annoyed at Rowley because he doesn’t spend any time with Greg but with his Girlfriend Abigail. Like Greg asked Rowley to come over and play a game and Rowley says “I can’t I’m busy”. To conclude this is my book review.

1)  Keep organized and try not to lose your binders or Ipads.
2)  Pay attention to the teacher at all times since there is so much to learn you might miss something.
3)  Utilize your the calendar to your best ability because it sure helped me when I forgot something.
4)  Use your time wisely, too since the more organized you are, the more time you get to play.
5)  Have fun! 6th grade was a blast and was not as intimidating as I thought it would be.

6th Graders

Future 6th graders:

You do a lot of stuff in sixth grade. The classes are the same but there are a lot of new things you do in each  class. In science this year we did water testing which only a few schools in the state do and usually they do it in high school. You also do a lot of hands on work in science. You also take German so it's fun to learn a new language. But a lot of times it gets hard but in the end it gets pretty easy. In math, try to get in the quote book. The math teacher says that six graders say the funniest things. And you should be in band.  I was in choir this year and I didn't like it. But if you want to do it go ahead. Other than that 6th is the same as 5th.

Good luck.

Sincerely,

Some Advice

Some Advice

To all the upcoming 6th graders I'm going to tell you about how 6th grade works. First don't worry in the beginning of the year you have almost no homework. And when you get homework it is super easy (it's like what you learned in the middle of the year). However, later in the year the homework gets really hard, but what's good about it is that we probably still have less homework than you.

You also get iPad minis so make sure they are charged because after the day they will be very drained of battery. At the beginning of the day if it's at 100%, by the end of the day it will be at about 40% - 50% unless you conserve battery. Ask for help too since there will always be a teacher in the room. If you need any assistance just ask a teacher.
