Books have been the key to my imagination since before I can remember! They have a special place in my heart because they help me recall memories and sometimes people. Since I was six months old I have loved books. I would crawl to my book bin, drag out a book (for example, Hop on Pop by Doctor Seuss) over to my family and have them read it to me. I would repeat this process over and over again. So if you find yourself unable to choose a new book then I hope this list helps you greatly! I have put lots of thought and time into trying to find some of very best books in my knowledge ! Just a warning though, I refuse to put any classics (example: Jane Eyre) in this article because they do not really compare to modern day books!!! Also I can not put my top five in order because it's just too hard! Hope you enjoy!!!!
Fault in our Stars
This is a cute, simple story about a girl named Hazel who has terminal cancer. Suddenly she meets gorgeous Augustus Waters at a Cancer Support Group causing her life to completely change and take on a new twist. One reason why this book tops all others is because it's so simple, honest and it can give you a new look on your life. Hazel gives the reader an idea of what it's like to know you are going to die and what it's like to lose someone you love. Her story is also about deciding to love and be loved, even if you know it will cause pain.
Son Lois Lowry
Though this book is the fourth book to the Giver series you do not necessarily have to read the three books before it; however, I do recommend reading the rest of the series first! There is something special about this book from the rest of its series: it's that every little detail counts and the author catches you off guard with the details you didn't think mattered. This is a sweet story about Claire who is braver than the rest and risks everything for the unknown. This young woman fights against her community/society to try and find her son, which in a way her community took. But what came of him she does not know.Years later when she washes up on an unknown shore, no one knew she lived in a society where emotions and color did not exist. Still determined to find her son she risks everything again. Will she ever find him? This book shows true courage, bravery and shows an example for standing up for what you believe in.
The Book Thief
This book is truly sad. Buts it's very eye opening at how much you have to risk just to survive one day when the Holocaust was going on. This book has such a cool perspective - at first confusing but through the chapters you will understand. It takes place in Molching Germany, near Munich between 1939 and 1943. Liesel Meminger is the main character of this story. After the separation from her mother and the death of her brother, Liesel goes to live with Hans and Rosa Hubermann. There at her new school Liesel can't read and is made fun of for it. Soon she realizes that a person is powerless without words. Liesel learns how to read from Hans, makes a new friend Rudy and together Liesel and Rudy develop a new hobby: book stealing. The Nazi party starts becoming more of a presence in Liesel's life and she makes a new unexpected friendship with Max, a Jewish man whom her new family hides. Her adventures continue and take on many new twists and turns.
Harry Potter
Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by J.K. Rowling. I believe that all seven books to this series are equally wonderful but I would like to just focus on the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. This is how the magic series started. I know that this is probably not a very original choice, but I had to add this book because for a couple of years I would daydream about potions class and the next quidditch game. What made this book one of my absolute favorites is that it truly brought me to a different world and people say that all books do that but not like Harry Potter! This book is filled with so many details and is occasionally quite funny. It's about one boy, Harry, who lives in England with his aunt, uncle and cousin Dudley. Harry believes he is ordinary, until a giant man, Hagrid, rescues Harry from his family and enrolls him in Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There Harry learns to play Quidditch (becoming the youngest seeker) and dreads his potion teacher, professor Snape. Harry is a wizard!
Shabanu Daughter of the Wind
This book helps give the reader a perspective of the Pakistan nomad culture. It's about an 11 year old girl Shabanu who lives in present day Pakistan. She faces many challenges, the main one being her and her sister within the next year must marry brothers. She has no desire to because she does not want to grow up but instead stay in the Cholistan Desert where she and her family raise camels. Yet Shabanu is comforted by the thought that she will be with her sister and begins to accept her fate. Then tragedy happens and she is forced to marry a different man far away from her family. Shabanu is determined to live her life on her own, but she also understands that to do what's best for her family she must mature and marry. This book is bittersweet, sensitively written, and about one girl who has an independiente spirit.
In conclusion these books are all truly wonderful and maybe one day they might even be classics! ! !
